Life will never be the same in Tinseltown.

Vital Rejects front guy Sebastian Tate never imagined his YouTube music video would go viral, sky-rocketing him to acting success in Hollywood.Okay, maybe he did. After all, he’s a cocky dude who knows he’s hot-as-hell, and it was only a matter of time before his stars aligned.

But life in Tinseltown is never what it seems.

After being cheated on by his ex-lover, his only rule to falling in love is simple: Keep Calm and Don’t Do It. So, spying on his mysterious new neighbor with binoculars seems innocent enough, but quickly escalates into an erotic game between two very unlikely people.

Twenty-year-old Violet St. Lyons is a world-renowned violinist who's lost her mojo on stage. She hides away in a Hollywood mansion, trying to find her way through her twisted past in order to make her future.

He’s the life of the party with girls chasing him down for his autograph. She’s the introvert with a potty mouth who doesn’t even know who he is.

When they meet, stars collide, sparks fly, and clothes come off. Yet, giving his heart to a girl isn’t Sebastian’s plan; falling for a guy who craves attention isn’t Violet’s.

Welcome to Briarcrest Academy—Hollywood style—where sometimes the best things in life are VERY TWISTED THINGS.

18+ Hot New Adult Romance

This story had it's moments. Ultimately, I wished there was a deeper understanding of why these characters needed to be together. The story is told through alternating POV, chapter to chapter. Violet is a good POV to read from - definitely sassy but Sebastian was a little too serious for my liking. I finished the book in one sitting. That being said it was interesting and steamy enough to keep on reading.

Violet St. Lyon is a teen violin prodigy on her way to play professionally in her home town New York but, on a birthday trip to Ireland with her parents, the plane is bombed. Violet witnesses the death of everyone around her most notable, her parents. She is the only survivor of that crash, call it survivors guilt or PTSD, a part of Violet died that day and she becomes a shell of a person after. She decides to move to LA and hideaway from her old life. Exiling her friends, her ex-fiancé, and her love of playing the violin. Two years later she meets Sebastian the resident bad boy rocker from next door. The two watch each other from their windows until one night things get a little out of hand. Like most New Adult novels, the spark is instant and soul reaching. Their is an undeniable connection but there seems to be a lot of barriers standing in their way of being together. First, Sebastian's in a relationship with a celebrity icon. Only it's fake - just for publicity to land a movie deal - but for a guy driven to make it big, it means no Violet. Second, Sebastian fears the chance of falling in love again because of an ex that almost cost him his music career. Third, Violet's got to figure out what she wants in order for there to be a future at all.

Everything was very super-fantastical in Very Twisted Things - rich musicians with fancy cars and mega mansions. This can either be what makes you love the book or hate it (I for on love them!).The real bits of awesome from this story, for me, came from Violet's backstory. Her tragic accident that we witness in the prologue was enough to get me hooked from the very beginning. Also, this storyline doesn't get lost as the story progresses. It stays a main factor to all the decisions Violet makes which I thought was nice.

There is a lot of back and forth between main couple Violet and Sebastian. One moment they agree they want a no strings attached relationship with just sex. Then the second it starts to happen, one of them gets too scared and backs out, leaving the other angry. I guess it was to build tension to the actual moment the two make it together but it happened too often for it to be meaningful. The physical connection and moments between Sebastian and Violet were quite hot. I wish the two had more funny moments and light hearted moments instead of the constant intensity of needing one another, it would have made the relationship between them more well rounded; in other words, they would have had it ALL!

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Very Twisted Things was an enjoyable read - nothing out of this world original but still something great to pick up if you want a easy light new adult read!

AS ALWAYS,
HAPPY READING
